Sharon Hunter-Pennicook Scholarship Fund

Being chosen as the first recipient of the Sharon Hunter-Pennicook Scholarship has been an absolute honour and a dream come true for me. This incredible opportunity has had a significant impact on my educational journey as well as my future aspirations.

The moment I received the news, I was filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and excitement. My journey to higher education has been difficult as a sixth-form student whose father is deceased. However, my other family members provide all the encouragement I need. They motivate me to take the actions necessary to overcome challenges that are thrown my way and to achieve anything in life.

As the former head girl of the St. Thomas Technical High School, I am proud to say that I have accomplished so much. Being a part of six different clubs indicates that I am an active member at school. Additionally, having the compassion to listen with a caring and concerned ear to let an individual know that how he or she feels matters is one of my passions. It urges me to take the actions necessary to achieve my career goal of becoming a pharmacist. This shows that I have taken the extra step toward ensuring that I will be successful and prepared for whatever God has in store for me.

When applying for the scholarship, I mentioned how it would relieve me of the financial burdens that come with attending university. Then I was informed that becoming a Pharmacist required units 1 and 2 Cape Science subjects. Therefore, I will be continuing my 6th form journey at The St. Thomas Technical High School for an additional year. This scholarship has not only provided me with financial support, but it has also served as a validation of my hard work and dedication. It has given me the confidence to pursue my passions and strive for greatness in my academic endeavors.

As the first recipient, I am proud to serve as a role model for future scholarship recipients. I hope to inspire others to overcome obstacles and pursue their dreams relentlessly. In conclusion, I am forever grateful for this opportunity and will continue to strive for excellence in all that I do.
